| 1. With public perception of our government and Congress waning, what would you do to restore the confidence of the people that their officials truly are working for the best interests of their constituents, not for the interests of Party or big business?
I would encourage reforms to the election process that would weaken the incumbency advantage. First and foremost, I support providing candidates on the ballot with a certain amount of free postage, perhaps enough to send 3 postcards to each voter in the district. This would enable challengers, in particular, to get their message out to the voters and thereby make incumbents more accountable to their constituents.
2. Rising costs for education, health insurance, and fuel are straining the ability of middle class families to make ends meet, even if both spouses work. As Congressman what, if anything, would you do to help working families that are struggling to get by?
We need to stop wasting money. Our government wastes tremendous sums on foolish policies, like $300 billion so far for the war in Iraq, and $200 billion a year defending rich countries like France. If government wasn't wasting so much money, we would have lower taxes and life would be much easier on working families like mine.

3. What is your position regarding the balance of power between Federal law and State’s rights? For example, when the Federal government trumps State laws legalizing medical marijuana, gay marriage, or euthanasia?
First of all, both state and federal governments have too much power. I support individual rights. As between federal, state and local government, decisions should generally be made as local as possible, thereby diminishing the role of the federal government.
4. In combating the war on terror, do you believe the United States is currently following the best course of action at home and abroad? What, if anything, should the U.S. be doing differently?
Our military should focus on defending the borders of the United States. If we weren't mucking around all over the world, we would not make ourselves such a target. We would also waste a lot less money.
5. In the name of National Security, is it reasonable for Americans to expect some of their civil liberties and Constitutional protections to be curtailed during this war?
No. The so-called war on terror is not a war. It is foreign policy. The use of the term "war" is phony, and is used to justify foolish policies and a tremendous waste of our money.
6. What do you see as the greatest challenge facing America, and what would you do about it?
The incumbency reelection rate is nearly 100%, which doesn't make sense considering all the dissatisfaction with government. As our nation becomes less and less democratic, we risk losing the benefits of living in a democracy. This may put us on the road to the wrong kind of government. We need to reinvigorate the democratic process, by improving ballot access and making it easier for candidates to get their message to voters. The first step down this road is free postage for candidates.
7. Why should the people of the 21st district choose you over all others?
Because I'll stop wasting their money. The incumbent has a long history of voting for higher spending and higher taxes. He failed to stand up and oppose the war in Iraq, and he has refused to offer any exit strategy for Europe, Japan and South Korea. He has delivered no meaningful mass transit in his 18 years. I will help bring about a privately funded and privately run mass transit system using the interstate right of way. The incumbent has no vision for how to deliver such projects. I do. And I won't waste taxpayer money doing it.
